David Wytmar is a licensed architect, a LEED accredited professional, and a building science practitioner. David began his working career with Groundwork as one of its first architectural staff professionals. Today, he is a President and Director of Architecture for the company. He received his Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon, and has responsibility for architectural design, production and coordination from feasibility study through contract administration. David's affiliations and participation include the America Institute of Architects, the Self-Storage Association, the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago, and the Association of Licensed Architects. He is also certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
David speaks extensively to owners, builders and architects on green building, self-storage, homes and the homebuilding process. He currently serves as a sub-committee chair on the Illinois Energy Conservation Advisory Council, where he recommends amendments to the state energy code. He has served the American Institute of Architects as the chairperson of the housing committee for the Chicago Chapter, and continues to organize architectural design workshops across the country for the National Association of Home Builders. He appears on television and radio, speaking on issues of sustainability and green building, including the WTTW-11 television program "Chicago Tonight", and the radio programs the "Bill Moller Show" on WGN-720, "Mighty House" and "Eye on Illinois." He has given presentations for the Energy Center of Wisconsin,the Association of Licensed Architects, and continues to speak on behalf of the American Institute of Architects. He has been a guest lecturer for IIT, HarperCollege and ITT. He has contributed articles to Inside Self-Storage magazine,has been featured in the Daily Herald, and has been quoted in the Chicago Tribune, Money magazine, Chicago Architect, and various industry and trade publications.
